The last issue of RESCAT<\/a><\/strong> the biannual bulletin of the CRMB<\/strong><\/a>, Catalonia\u2019s Institute for Restauration in Valldoreix (Barcelona), includes many examples of the good work the institute is doing with important works of art owned by the Church – among them 31 pieces of jewellery currently in the Museu Dioces\u00e0 de la Seu d\u2019Urgell<\/a><\/em><\/strong> or the Mare de D\u00e9u del Patrocini <\/em>in Cardona (photo). You will find also find an interview with Father Jes\u00fas Tarragona Bay, a key figure in heritage protection in Lleida.<\/p>\n

The American leg of TEFAF<\/strong><\/a> has posted its list of exhibitors, and photos of some of the works on offer \u2013 like this recently attributed Madonna and Child by Musical Angels<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by the Maestro of Belmonte (146 x 121 cm), at Jaime Eguiguren\u2019s. The doors of the Park Avenue \u00a0Armory, New York, will open on October 27th<\/sup>, for just 6 days.<\/p>\n

4. The rise of the online catalogue raison\u00e9e.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Wildenstein Platter Institute<\/a><\/strong> is following the trend and has plans to put online<\/a><\/strong> not only the vast Wildenstein archive, but also the catalogues raison\u00e9es of Edouard Manet<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Berthe Morisot<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Claude Monet<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0The WPI is a partnership between the Wildenstein Institute and Hasso Platter, the co- founder of the tech giant SAP SE and the man behind, among other things, the successful Museum Barberini<\/a>\u00a0 <\/strong>in Postdam. Now the obvious advantages of the online catalogue are more and more clear, is good to remember the pioneers, like the Fundaci\u00f3 Dal\u00ed<\/a> <\/strong>in Figueres, breaking ground since 2004.<\/p>\n

The City Council of Girona has put online the archives <\/strong><\/a>of the fabled\u00a0Galeries Dalmau in Barcelona, given by the heirs of art critic Rafael Santos Torroella following Girona’s purchase of his art collection. \u00a0You will find there this\u00a0letter of introduction<\/strong><\/a> for Salvador Dal\u00ed, written by Joan Mir\u00f3 to Andr\u00e9 Breton in March 20th, 1920, and also the \u00a0catalogue with prices<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>of Mir\u00f3’s first solo exhibition, of just two years before.<\/p>\n

6. \u201cMuseums are still about their collections, and about striving for a higher experience\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
