The Fundaci\u00f3 Mascort in Torroella de Montgr\u00ed (in North Catalonia, close to the coast) is showing the Selected Pieces<\/span> <\/a><\/em><\/span>of its founder\u2019s collection, until October 15th. They are displaying them as they were the normal furnishings of their lovely house, the Casa Galibern, and the effect is refreshing. You will find, among other interesting items, a splendid cross from 15th century Barcelona, attributed to Pere Barn\u00e8s. For good ice cream, try the local Gelats Angelo (at Boh\u00e8me or El Cruixent shops).<\/p>\n

2. A Catalan in Texas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Appollo Magazine<\/em><\/a><\/span> \u00a0informs us the Meadows Museum bought this panel with Saints Benedict and Onophrius<\/em> attributed to Pere Vall. Dated c. 1410, it is only the third work before 1450 in the collection. The happy seller was Sam Fogg.<\/p>\n

3. Now it is public.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Monta\u00f1es reviews in El Pa\u00eds<\/em> the Generalitat of Catalonia\u2019s 2016 acquisitions list (\u201cM\u00e1s patrimonio para todos\u201d<\/a><\/span>, May 1st, 2017). It includes this Saint James Apostle<\/em> by Ramon Sol\u00e0 II, a painter from Girona. It was found by yours truly, and it will join the Museu d\u2019Art de Girona<\/a><\/span>\u2019s fine Medieval collection.<\/p>\n
